The support New Mexico Medical has received from the community and from within the practice has been overwhelmingly positive and welcomed.
It continues to be our goal to provide medical care to those in our community and to those who drive from areas outside of the East Mountains to receive care within our clinics. Our clinics are open as usual during normal business hours Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) with some weekend hours available.
***NMM is not currently taking Presbyterian Insurance at at this time. We are currently in negotiations to reconcile the situation. We apologize for any inconvenience. In the meantime, all of our providers are still available and you may schedule an appointment, as any PHP patient may be seen as a self-pay patient, or may be seen on an out-of-network basis. New Mexico Medical Family Practice & Urgent Care is trying to address any questions our patients have regarding medical care in a timely manner. Below are some frequently asked questions and answers that may help at this time:
Q: I need a refill on my medication but have been unable to get a provider to refill it, how can I get my prescription medications?
A: First begin by calling your pharmacy and asking them to send an electronic refill request to your provider. If the pharmacy has not been authorized to refill your medication, you may call the clinic or walk into the clinic to schedule an appointment with a provider to discuss medication refills. If you have not been seen in the past year, you must see a provider to obtain a new prescription. Please bring your current prescription bottles to the clinic to help facilitate this process.
Q: My regular provider is not in clinic and I need medical care, what do I do?
A: You may call the clinic or come to any clinic to schedule an appointment with another provider while your regular provider is out. If it is a medical emergency, call 911.
Q: I have questions about something other than medical care, who can I talk to and how do I get ahold of someone who can help me?
A: The New Mexico Medical Family Practice & Urgent Care call center staff will direct your call as needed. If you are asked to leave a voice mail message, please leave a message outlining your question and please clearly provide a call back number and your first and last name. It is common for patients to leave voice mail messages with only part of their name. If we do not have a first and last name, and contact information for you, it makes it difficult for us to return your call.

New Mexico Medical Family Practice Urgent Care treats Adults and Pediatrics, and has 3 family practice locations in Cedar Crest, Edgewood, and Moriarty, and will be opening a stand-alone URGENT CARE center in Edgewood in mid 2017 with expanded hours of operation. New Mexico Medical provides you with the expert medical care you need, and the personalized attention you want, close to home. No insurance, no problem. Ask about our cash-pay program. We understand that high-deductible insurance plans have their drawbacks. Remember that NMM has FREE VACCINES FOR KIDS at all of our family practice locations.
We have listened to our patients, and we have made the change in how we handle calls. Since NM has grown, it has become difficult for our front desk at each clinic to handle the increasing call volume. Therefore, a centralized Call Center has been designed. Your call will be answered faster and with more reliability. If you need to leave a message for your provider, the call center will provide that service. Also remember, refills are handled electronically through your pharmacy.

Our Urgent Care will be temporarily closed due to a shortage of staffing. Please make your visit to one of our other facilities in Cedar Crest, Edgewood, or Moriarty during regular business hours. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Chris has been with New Mexico Medical for several years, and has made the decision to move out of state to pursue other endeavors. Although Chris will be missed by all, we will be transitioning his patients to the other wonderful providers at Moriarty clinic. Please make the appropriate arrangements.
Patients who have been seeing James Marc Beverly will need to arrange to see another provider until further notice. All prescription refills will need to go through another provider as well. Please make the appropriate arrangements in advance.
Dr. Yankow will be returning mid October. Please make your appointment to see him as he has returned from his sabbatical.

Having worked as a RN at UNMH’s Lifeguard helicopter service, she is adept at both family practice and emergency medicine. She is hoping to expand NMM’s service to more rural areas.
has over 8 years of ER nursing experience and is a Family Nurse Practitioner. Doug is also a beekeeper and is a resident of the East Mountains. Doug did most of his family practice rotations with NMM and is familiar with many of our patients and is looking forward to working in the family practice setting as well as at the Urgent Care.
Shawn works part time at the Cedar Crest location and will be taking new patients of all ages.
